Teaching+Technology Initiative
Request for Proposals for 2008-2009 available
Application deadline: Monday, February 11, 2008.
The Teaching+Technology Initiative (TTI) provides assistance to selected faculty who are finding ways to transform teaching and learning by integrating technology into their courses.
The program supports fellowships for well-defined projects that make innovative and effective use of technology for teaching, and that show promise for spreading these advances to other instructors. TTI is open to faculty from any School or Department with proposals to develop undergraduate teaching. Individuals from the professional schools who secure funding from their schools to develop graduate courses are also welcome to apply to TTI so that they can benefit from the interdisciplinary interaction of the program.
TTI Fellows are chosen through a yearly proposal process, and fellowships run for 12 months, from September through August. Successful applicants receive either release time from one course, or one month's salary during the summer, to accomplish their objectives. Each Fellow is also provided with the necessary hardware and software to complete his or her project, and a budget to hire people to work on it - most often graduate or undergraduate students. Finally, participating faculty get focused support from highly-skilled members of ITC's Instructional Technology Group.
TTI was designed with faculty input, to solve the two problems faculty saw as the greatest obstacles to their use of technology in the classroom: lack of time and lack of resources.
"We build bridges between the technical infrastructure and your particular
discipline."
